Join us this year as we rebel, roister and rave with abandon in celebration of 35 years of The Lilliput Press and the publication of so many amazing books. To mark this momentous occasion we have launched #lilliput35 – a celebration of all things Lilliputian. Beginning today we will be posting daily pictures and tweets about all of our favourite Lilliput books, shining the spotlight on a book a day and livening up your summer reading list. And because no birthday would be complete without presents we are also offering 20% off selected titles so that you can keep up with us as we journey through the back…

We are all deeply saddened here at the Lilliput Press to hear of the passing of our former National Library of Ireland colleague, Gerry Lyne. Gerry was a great friend of the press and was the life and soul of Lilliput’s Christmas parties. He was the former Keeper of Manuscripts and retired in 2009 after having worked at the NLI for more than thirty-six years. Originally from Kerry, Gerry went to the Cistercian college, Mount St Joseph’s in Roscrea, before earning his masters in History at University College Dublin. Always interested in the arts, Gerry began his working life as a teacher in London and then moved on to a position as a sub-editor with…

My name is Alison and I am currently on a week of work experience at The Lilliput Press. As a recent Journalism graduate with a passion for books and a strong determination to work in publishing, finding any experience within said industry is invaluable. I have found that the experience I have gained whilst at The Lilliput Press truly beneficial. Because The Lilliput Press is a small independent publisher, it allows me to get the absolute most out of this experience. My tasks are tailor made to me and what I’m specifically interested in within the publishing process. I informed the staff here that I’m very interested in editorial, with an open mind towards other…

Last night, we all gathered in the stunning environs of the Irish Georgian Society to launch Susan Wood’s newest collection, her ‘valentine’ to Ireland as she put it herself. John Boorman introduced the book, expressing his amazement at Susan’s ability to capture her subjects at the most unusual yet befitting moments. He also spoke warmly of their life long friendship and mutual love for a country to which neither of them are native, but to which both have always been heartily welcomed. Susan, in her speech, spoke of how honored she was by her reception, and how the friends she made here (many of whom feature in the book) gifted her with the opportunity to…

The Stoneybatter Festival ran from Friday 22nd June to Sunday 24th June. It was a fantastic festival that featured a series of events, which highlighted the pride people have in this area and the sense of community that there is. The Lilliput Press ran three events on Saturday. We kicked off with a children’s mindfulness workshop in the morning. Louise Shanagher, the author of the Mindfully Me series, led the children with mindfulness exercises, and encouraged them to draw pictures depicting how they felt. Next up we had Bernard Neary, the author of the ever-popular Dublin 7, give a fascinating talk on the history of Stoneybatter. He was joined by The Cruelty Men writer, Emer…
