Literary Treasures from the Vaults: Part One of the Big Lilliput Stocktake
It’s our fortieth year in the business of independent publishing! And The Lilliput Press is doing a big stocktake to celebrate – along the way finding hidden gems …
Here’s your first update from Publisher Antony Farrell.
With Lilliput Press’s current pre-spring stocktake in our auxiliary warehouse above the stables in Knockmaroon, titles are being uncovered in the form of well-preserved long-lost classics previously deemed out of print.
The following have so far re-emerged and are back on our shelves.
First, two Joycean masterworks, one on Ulysses, the other on Finnegans Wake:
€25 pbk, based on Robert French’s photographs in the National Library of Ireland.
THE ONDT & THE GRACEHOPER illustrated by Thomas McNally (2014)
€30 hbk, a re-telling of Aesop’s fable, with Joyce’s original wordplay, interpretive essays and 46 plates.
Then the sumptuous encyclopaedic 670-page NATURE IN IRELAND: A SCIENTIFIC AND CULTURAL HISTORY edited by John Wilson Foster (1997)
€50 hbk, illustrated.
And LIVES LESS ORDINARY: THIRTY-TWO IRISH PORTRAITS by Judy Kravis and Peter Morgan (1999)
€30 pbk with french flaps: essay interviews and stunning photography.
Happy Days as Mr Beckett might have it, and good news for our reader-customers. Watch this space for more treasures from the vaults.
