Caroline Preston was born into a family with a long tradition of service abroad. This tribute recognizes
the experiences of those who fought in the war, rarely discussed in post-independence Ireland. She
studied history and political science in Trinity College Dublin before embarking on a long and
successful career as a litigation partner in a leading Dublin law firm. She now practises as an
independent mediator. She lives in County Meath. This Tumult is her first novel.
