ABOUT THE AUTHORS

Gearóid Ó Tuathaigh is Professor Emeritus in History and former Dean of Arts and Vice-Presidentof the National University of Ireland, Galway. Former member of the Senate of the NUI, the Irish-US Fulbright Commission, and former Cathaoirleach of Údarás na Gaeltachta. He has served onthe Council of State since 2012.

John Cunningham is a Lecturer in History at the National University of Ireland, Galway where heteaches labour history, local history and on modern Ireland. He is currently joint editor of Saothar:Journal of the Irish Labour History Society.

Niall Ó Ciosáin is Senior Lecturer in the Department of History at the National University ofIreland, Galway. His book, Print and Popular Culture in Ireland, 1750-1850 is published by Lilliput.
